Motorists are staying on my car park but going elsewhere.

Overstaying on a car park, or parking up and going elsewhere takes up space for legitimate visitors and is a major hurdle for car park owners to overcome. ANPR and a max stay on-site can be a great way to remedy this. It’s also worth considering pre-booking, especially if your car park is near to other services or popular attractions, that way you can still leverage your sites popularity but in a way that’s more beneficial to your business.

My car park causes complaints from my visitors.

The crucial point here is to identify what is causing the complaints. This could be several issues:

If your site is dealing with one or a combination of issues the best way to deal with them is to assess the management that you have in place on-site. Typically, the solutions in place will either be older or not working or, there’s no car park management in place to begin with. Putting the right solutions in place, such as a max stay to improve space turnover, removes the sources of complaints. This removes a frustrating element from your team’s workload and gives them more time to spend on other tasks.

I need to make more money from my car park.

How does your paid parking work? Are you still using purely cash based machines, or does your paid parking need modernising?

There are lots of different ways to access the untapped revenue in your car park. From better payment solutions, like contactless or mobile payments to adding new services such as Pre-Booking or EV charging, or other solutions that enhance existing services like parcel lockers or click & collect. These help make it easier for visitors to your car park to pay, while also creating new services which generate extra revenue and new ways to support customers, staff and other visitors.

Make paying for parking easier

Paying for parking should be simple and streamlined. The rise of cashless, contactless, and app-based payment solutions allows you to change how visitors manage their parking. Pre-booking allows people to arrange and pay in advance, while other options provide an unparalleled level of choice when someone is on-site.

Providing choice and convenience means visitors can pay in the way that suits them while eliminating unnecessary queues and congestion as people no longer need to have correct change to pay. This helps to boost payment compliance in the process, meaning your site generates more revenue too.

Customers aren’t using our Click & Collect service.

If you have Click & Collect, it’s important that the service is streamlined. The rise in online shopping means customers don’t want a service that means lots of waiting around and staff want to be able to spend more time focusing on other areas of their job.

ANPR lets you track vehicles entering your car park. Taking a vehicle registration when a click & collect order is made would allow you to use notifications when a vehicle arrived on your site, letting your team get an order ready with plenty of notice.

This streamlines the service, adding greater convenience to the click & collect customer, freeing up time for your staff and reducing queues and waiting around for other customers. This could even support the NHS by enabling a pharmacy collection service.

There are no spaces for disabled users.

This can be a major source of complaints and severely damage the reputation of your brand or business. If your priority spaces are being misused, it can be difficult to find the motorist and get them to move their vehicle. It creates an awkward confrontation for staff and a task that takes them away from the job they’re supposed to be doing.

Bay Enforcement puts a means of controlling access to those priority spaces in place and acts as a deterrent against abuse. At Parkingeye we have a patented Bay Enforcement solution that provides fine control over the different priority spaces on your car park.

I don’t know if I need electric vehicle charging yet.

It’s no secret that the use of electric vehicles is on the rise. Adapting some of your car park to provide chargers and aid the growing EV infrastructure in the UK can also help your business to access a whole new revenue stream. But those chargers only deliver on that if there is demand.

ANPR Data can help. Numberplates carry a wealth of information about a vehicle, including its make and type. This helps to provide a picture of the fuel types making use of your site. Reporting like this allows you to track the current level of EV use on your car park and decide whether it’s worthwhile putting chargers in place on your car park.

That information can then help identify how many chargers you need on site and track their performance and the revenue they generate for your business.

I need to attract people to my car park

Your car park needs to deliver what motorists need. Security, convenience, and reliability are key. Your car park needs to have the means for visitors to park, pay and interact with a site in a way that’s fast, easy and not restricted by faulty equipment.

This helps to make your car park a much more attractive destination for motorists. Especially if you keep looking to the future and embracing the changes coming to how we travel, such as adopting EV.
